Saginaw Choral Society
“Building and uniting our community through music.” Founded in 1935 and now celebrating its 90th anniversary, the Saginaw Choral Society (SCS) has become a cornerstone of the Great Lakes Bay Region’s cultural life. Based in the historic Temple Theatre Complex, SCS presents an annual concert series that spans classical masterpieces, cabaret favorites, and intimate boutique performances in iconic local venues. Under the direction of Artistic Director Jeremiah Kraniak since 2015, SCS continues a legacy shaped by seventeen previous conductors and a deep commitment to musical excellence. Comprising volunteer singers from across the region, SCS has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Dave Brubeck, Tony Bennett, and Judy Collins, and performed major choral works including Carmina Burana and Verdi’s Requiem. In 2018, the organization expanded its reach by establishing the Saginaw Youth Choir, nurturing the next generation of performers. With ongoing support from patrons, sponsors, and community donors, SCS remains dedicated to making high-quality choral music accessible and inspiring to all.
Saginaw Choral Society (SCS) takes great pride in actively participating in various community events and festivals, fostering a strong connection with our local community. Over the years, we have been honored to lend our voices to Saginaw's P.R.I.D.E. event and the beloved Holiday in the Heart of the City celebration, spreading joy and harmony throughout our city. Recently, we've expanded our horizons by becoming an official member of Beer Choir, a delightful community sing-along experience. We've had the pleasure of hosting several Beer Choir events around Saginaw, bringing people together through the universal language of music. But the spirit of community involvement doesn't stop there. Our Saginaw Youth Choir (SYC) leaders created Root Beer Choir, a family-friendly, sing-along that is held at the Saginaw Zoo. We introduced our Boutique Event Series—unique performances designed on a more intimate scale. These concerts spotlight featured soloists, small chamber ensembles, and our talented singers in settings that bring you closer to the music. Each event is enhanced with special effects such as candlelight ambiance, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Guests are also invited to enjoy complimentary light bites before the performance, making each evening a warm and welcoming experience.
